I’m a little late in the game on this one, but starting two weeks ago one of my favorite local blogs “Egg City Radio” (check it out if you haven’t already) is hosting their (annual?) Post-Punk Junk Film Fest at Cinefamily in the Historic Silent Movie Theatre. I missed the first two weeks and I’m out of town for this week’s film, but they are wrapping it up on February 25th with the film LIQUID SKY. As a special treat, the director, Slava Tsukerman, will be there in person. Maybe he can shed some light on some of the craziness of the film (and why he used what is probably the smallest and least impressive flying saucer in the history of film).
But if you’re around this week, they are having a special screening of the film ATHENS, GA: INSIDE OUT with producer Bill Cody in attendance. Check out rare clips from R.E.M., The B-52’s, Flat Duo Jets, Love Tractor and many of the other great bands that came out of the early/mid-80’s Athens scene. This all goes down on Thursday, February 18th at 8:00pm.
